CEIBS Hosts CPC Shanghai Committee Deputy Secretary Yin Yicui

January 15, 2008. Shanghai campus -- CEIBS today hosted CPC Shanghai Committee Deputy Secretary Yin Yicui today. Madame Yin was accompanied by a delegation including Mr. Jiang Liang, deputy secretary-general of the CPC Shanghai Committee Office; Mr. Li Xuanhai, secretary of the CPC Shanghai Working Committee for Science, Technology and Education; Mr. Wang Qi, deputy director-general of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; and Mr. Yan Yingfang, assistant inspector of the Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission.

During the meeting, CEIBS President Zhu Xiaoming introduced the school's development strategy. He outlined CEIBS' objectives to serve firstly as an "incubator" developing excellent business leaders; secondly as a "think tank"assisting the government in setting economic policy; thirdly, as a "platform" fostering China-EU communication; and finally as a "world-class brand for China' s management education." President Zhu then explained five key tasks for CEIBS continued development:
• Adapt to market changes, update curriculum
• Increase research input, strengthen teaching team, and launch PhD programme
• Boost Phase Ⅲ of campus construction, provide first-class teaching and research equipment
• Attract funding for the school’s development
• Develop an academic focus on finance

President Zhu concluded by thanking representatives of the Shanghai government and other official entities for their generous support. CEIBS' Vice President and Co-dean Zhang Weijiong then introduced the school's unique qualities, while Honorary President Liu Ji introduced school's cultural development and Associate Dean Liang Neng briefed the audience on the current status of overseas returning students.

In her address, Deputy Secretary Yin Yicui congratulated CEIBS on receiving the coveted Europe-China Business Management Training Project last November. The BMT Project will provide CEIBS with funding of nearly 18 million Euros, provided equally from the European Union and the Shanghai Municipal government. Madam Yin pledged the government's continued strong support for the school' s development.

At the conclusion of the visit, President Zhu presented Madam Yin with a set of books published by CEIBS professors.
