January 13, 2008. Shanghai campus -- CEIBS today hosted the first Shanghai Asset Management Center Forum, bringing together a roster of more than 200 of China's most influential financial experts, CEIBS professors, and high-level government officials. The forum was co-organized by the Shanghai Financial Service Office and sponsored by Pacific Asset Management Co.

During the main forum and two smaller breakout sessions, the discussions centered around the development of, and innovations within, China' s fund and asset industry.
CEIBS President Zhu Xiaoming, who is also vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Shanghai Municipality, delivered the opening address. President Zhu told audience members the time was right for Shanghai to become a global hub for asset management, pointing to the golden opportunity presented by the development of the Shanghai International Finance Centre in Lujiazui. Zhu also highlighted the role of the CEIBS Lujiazui International Finance Research Centre, launched last October, in helping to transform Shanghai into an international finance hub.

The day-long forum showcased an impressive line-up of speakers including:
- Executive Governor of Shanghai Feng Guoqin.
- Director of Shanghai Financial Service Office Fang Xinghai, who spoke on the opportunities and challenges for Shanghai as a fund and asset management center.
- CEIBS Vice President and Co-dean Zhang Weijiong.
- Executive Director of the Financial Centre Development, Monetary Authority of Singapore Ng Nam Sin, who gave insight into Singapore' s experience in developing an asset management center.
- Head of the Insurance Fund Management Regulatory Department at the China Insurance Regulatory Commission Sun Jianyong.
- CEIBS Professor Chun Chang, ABN AMRO Chair Professor of Risk Management, who analyzed the key elements that Shanghai must attain in order to emerge as a leader in asset management.
