November 3, 2007. Shanghai campus - More than 400 CEIBS alumni returned to their alma mater today to celebrate the annual CEIBS alumni reunion day. CEIBS Executive President Pedro Nueno, CEIBS President Zhu Xiaoming, and CEIBS Vice President/Co-Dean Zhang Weijiong also attended the event.
CEIBS alumni Ms. Dong Mingzhu, Mr. Yuan Guangyu and Mr. Wang Yupu were honored during the event by CEIBS President Zhu Xiaoming, who congratulated them on their remarkable achievements. Earlier this year Dong, President of Gree Electric Appliances, was ranked 93 on Forbes list of The 100 Most Powerful Women 2007. Yuan is CEO and President of China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), which has operations in 11 countries and regions outside of China. Wang is President and General Manager of Daqing Oilfield Co., which became the largest base for the research and development of tertiary oil recovery technology in 2006. These are just three of the well-known China business leaders on the CEIBS' alumni roster.
In order to strengthen the work of the school's alumni association, President Zhu and Executive President Nueno were jointly appointed as Alumni Association Chairmen during the Reunion Day activities. President Zhu urged the alumni association to continue providing CEIBS graduates with "exceptional services offered with a personal touch." He also encouraged alumni to support their alma mater, to give back to society, and to develop to their full potential as individuals. These measures, President Zhu said, will not generate wealth for CEIBS alumni but also promote China's overall economic development by improving opportunities for the country's poor. As examples of addressing social responsibility, President Zhu mentioned such activities as volunteering at schools dedicated to underprivileged children, or investing in development projects based in undeveloped regions. President Zhu also stressed that CEIBS alumni should pursue holistic personal growth by organizing social and cultural activities. These events would highlight the versatility of the business school’s alumni network, showing that graduates' are not confined to business success, but also encompass social and artistic pursuits, he explained.
