July 5, 2007. Shanghai Campus - More than 60 new participants turned out today for this year’s official start of CEIBS’ Diploma in Management Programme (DIMP). Over the past 10 years, the programme has trained more than 500 high-caliber executives and earned a reputation for helping companies retain top talent.

In his welcome speech, CEIBS Assistant President and Director of Executive Education Hobbs Liu cited a CEIBS survey showing that 85% of 450 DIMP graduates polled had remained with the companies that had employed them as DIMP students. Mr. Liu added that 56% of DIMP graduates were promoted within one year of completing the programme.

The survey also showed that an increasing number of DIMP alumni had expanded their scopes of responsibility from China to the wider Asia-Pacific region. This, said Liu (who is also a CEIBS DIMP graduate), reflects the positive impact of the programme in instilling a global vision in its participants.

DIMP was originally launched to meet the needs of corporations seeking human resources training. In order to equip managers and executives with the global vision and capabilities needed to compete internationally, Mr. Liu explained, CEIBS assembled a highly qualified faculty group for the programme. After a decade of development and constant improvement, CEIBS DIMP has won praises from the corporate world, including such long-term supporters of the programme as ABB, Atlas Copco, Chic, GE, Kostal-Huayang, L’Oreal, Roche, Sapa, Tetra Pak, YUM!.

This year’s programme participants were jointly selected by CEIBS and their employers. As he welcomed the new batch of students, Mr. Liu shared a few personal experiences from his days as a DIMP enrollee, including tips on how to enjoy the 18 months of intense study.

In addition to these tips, the 2007 intake students participated in a team-building exercise called the ice-breaking journey.
