On April 15, 2007, 40 CEIBS students and staff members participated in the 6th Annual Jinqiao 8K Race organized by the District of Pudong. Many others from the CEIBS community turned out to support the team.
At 10 am on that Sunday morning, some 2,000 people in the Jinqiao a rea gathered at the Pinghe Elementary School to participate in the event. The race contained two parts: a 2 -km fun run and 8-km race. The event looked not only like a running race for fitness, but also like an entertaining festival including live performance, interactive activities, lucky draw & costume contest (the winner ran the entire 8-km race dressed in a superman costume). CEIBS MBA students and staff also showed their enthusiasm and energy for the event by warming up, encouraging each other and taking funny group photos with the CEIBS flag flying high.
One month of training before the race paid off. All the runners finished the scheduled race and some even got good achievements. In the 2 -km race, MBA2006 student Jim Hsieh finish ed first among the CEIBS runners. In the 8 -km race, Laurie Underwood, CEIBS Director of External Communications, finished 5th among all woman participants. Two MBA students, Oliver Bruns and Michael McCannon, were battling each other all the way into the finish and ranked among the Top 40 in 8 - km race.

The participation in this event not only adds color to our MBA education for students but also contributes to a worthy cause. Ten percent of the race registration fee was donated to the Special Olympics. The CEIBS team was proud to contribut e to the Jinqiao community where the school is located , and to help support Special Olympics.
