April 13, 2007, SHANGHAI CAMPUS - The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is pleased to announce that three CEIBS MBA 2006 student teams finished in the Top 10, and seven finished in the Top 25 at the MIT Sloan 2007 Littlefield Manufacturing competition.
All told, eight of the 64 teams accepted in the competition were sent by CEIBS. The 56 other participating teams hailed from top schools including MIT, Vanderbilt, INCAE, UC Berkeley, Chicago, Yale, Wisconsin, Purdue, Babson, and Manitoba.
The Littlefield Manufacturing Factory Simulation ran 24 hours per day, from midnight April 9 to midnight April 12. For 72 hours, the student teams operated a simulated job shop factory assembling and testing digital satellite system receivers. The teams strive to process orders as efficiently and effectively as possible while facing a series of varied and difficult challenges. The criterion for the winning the simulation is simple: the team with the most cash at the game's end, wins.
"CEIBS is a young business school compared with most in the world, but through the MBA students' active participation and impressive performance in international competitions, the CEIBS MBA Programme stands firmly in the first tier of world's top business schools," said competitor Linda Shi, part of the six-person CEIBS team that finished in Third Place.
CEIBS professors Tom Callarman and Linda Sprague taught the Operations Management course which introduced the Littlefield Technologies Manufacturing simulation to MBA2006
