On the afternoon of Dec 9, CEIBS MBA Programme made presence at Guangzhou. The First-in-Asia (Financial Times) programme held a management forum and MBA Info Session at Asia International Hotel, attended by nearly 150 interested audiences.

Dr. Xu Xiaonian, renowned economist and Professor of Economics and Finance at CEIBS, rendered a speech entitled "Economy and Traditional Culture". As an organic mix between two seemingly irrelevant subjects, this innovative lecture analyzed the subtle influence of the traditional culture on the economic development and its implications. His profound thought and simple way of lecturing brought the audiences rich gains and won him warm applauses.

Ms Li Yuanyuan, Director (Operations) of the MBA Programme, followed Dr. Xu with a deliberate introduction to the philosophy, features and 2007 admission policy of the programme. As the only school in mainland China receiving global rankings and international accreditation from the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), she pointed out, CEIBS is the most internationalized Chinese business school and the most Chinese International business school. Over 70% of the full time professors come from overseas, and among the rest, Wu Jinglian, Xu Xiaonian and other famed Chinese professors are not the minority. The diversified composition of students can be reflected on the new comers in 2006, 33% of which are international students from more than 20 countries and regions. "Through the international exchange programme, our students are offered opportunities to participate in bilateral exchanges with over 30 top partner schools, and quiet a large number of exchange students will come to CEIBS as well. During that season, the ratio between Chinese and Foreign students on campus may reach 1:1," Ms Li added, "Therefore, their experiences in CEIBS is compared to a study abroad without going abroad."

At present, to go abroad or to stay in China is a question for many MBA applicants. However, as Mr. Zhou, one of the audiences, remarked in the interview, domestic leading business schools are no less internationalized than their overseas counterparts. Besides, the Chinese elements in the programmes, alumni networks and career development services at home are quite beyond the latter's reach. "It is a more realistic choice to stay at home. The international exchange programme is another opportunity to develop your international vision," Mr. Chen, one of the listeners, concluded, "My hope is lightened up by these CEIBS alumni", he added while the CEIBS alumni telling their successful story of career development at the stage.

Prof. Xu Xiaonian, Ms. Li Yuanyuan and a dozen of the graduates working in Guangzhou gathered together at the hotel before the activity. During the reunion, they exchanged the information about their career development and the recent advancement of CEIBS to their heart content.
