November 28, 2006, Shanghai. NYSE Group Inc. Chief Executive Officer John A. Thain today visited the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai, where he presented a speech to business school students focusing on growth of the Chinese capital markets and the NYSE's leadership in the consolidation and globalization of stock exchanges. The speech was chaired by the executive president of CEIBS, Professor Pedro Nueno followed by a questions and answer session with students.

Mr. Thain has been at the helm of the NYSE Group, Inc. for almost three years. His visit to China underlines China's growing importance in the global capital markets and source of stock exchange listings. During his visit, Mr. Thain was on a mission to attract more listings to the world's largest stock market. The NYSE trades the shares of 31 companies from Greater China with a total global market capitalization of US Dlrs 729 billion. Chinese entrepreneurial companies have been among the NYSE's hottest initial public offerings this year, and attracting more Chinese companies to list on the NYSE will enhance US and global investor access to their shares.

Professor Zhang Wei Jiong, the Vice-President of CEIBS said: "The New York Stock Exchange is the most important international capital market and leading securities transaction center in the world, and it enjoys a great reputation as an international transaction and fundraising platform. In addition to Chinese State Owned Enterprises already listed there, entrepreneurial companies from China are starting to list on the NYSE". Mindray Medical International Limited, managed by one of the CEIBS alumni, Mr. Xu Hang, just listed on the NYSE a few weeks ago.

Mr. Thain expressed optimism that there would be more Chinese entrepreneurial companies listing on NYSE, and Professor Jiong said he hoped companies run by CEIBS alumni would be among them.
