June 12, 2006-A two-day CEIBS Executive forum was held in Guangzhou and Xiamen last Thursday and Friday. They were successful events attended by close to 500 people at each event.
The Vice President and Co-Dean of CEIBS, Prof. Zhang Weijiong, and two of CEIBS' leading professors, Prof. Xu Xiaonian, and Prof. Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, attended these forums discussing variables and requirements for further economic development.

Professor Xu, CEIBS Professor of Economics and Finance, delivered a speech "New Models of Economic Growth and Institution Building," where he explained the need for three components in the economy to work together to create a conducive environment for a healthy development which included adjustments in government, infrastructure, and taxes. He further went into discussion about how changes could be made in China's economic model by decreasing incentives for consumer spending and instead focusing on improving efficiency; further education of the service markets in the finance and real estate industries; focus on R&D; and reform of China's lawmaking and justice policies, which is a reform that is strengthening day-by-day.

Professor Atuahene-Gima, Professor of Marketing and Innovation Management, presented to the audience his research on "Innovation is the Key to Business Growth." He explained how ever organization needs one core competence, and that must be innovation-in products, process, service, or business activity. Innovation provides a unique and compelling solution to valued customers. The equation to business success is research expenditure with innovation.

"As China's leading institution, it is our duty and task to create the research that we collect to provide knowledge and spread this to others," explains Dr. Snow Zhou, Director of Marketing and Communications, "this year is the first year of the eleventh five year plan and it's very important to China's economic development. CEIBS has an excellent faculty. We have International leading concept and management concepts and research results. We hope to bring management concept all over China and communicate more with local governments and companies."
