'07 MBA welcomed the birth of 31 clubs
15 November, 2007 - After one month preparation and promotion, the preliminary stage of reelection MBA07 clubs draws itself an successful ending. The presidents of each club were elected, the members of each club settled down as well. In 2007, CEIBS is proud of having 31 diverse clubs, among which 6 clubs were newly established.
In 2007, the CEIBS clubs could be subdivided into 3 broad categories including sports clubs (e.g. badminton club, Kung fu club), academics clubs (e.g. Finance club, China business club), and social clubs (e.g. Wine appreciation club, Women in business club).
The clubs organized a variety of events since the early beginning. The badminton club organized a match between MBA and EMBA students; the football club enjoyed a friendly match with friends from Chili; and the basketball club continues its tradition to have friendly matches with many companies. While being in clubs, students enjoyed the opportunity to meet different people and make new friends.
The newly established 6 clubs they planed and organized innovative and diversified events to attract eyeballs. For example, the connoisseur club successfully organized workshop featuring diamond appreciation and investment (the president of the club was awarded with Diamond Diploma Certificate by Diamond Gem Association of UK); the photography club organized photography competitions for big events such as the Shanghai MBA Sunny cup photography competition; while the wine appreciation club invited professionals on campus to introduce basic wine knowledge, wine appreciation, and related etiquette.
Such kind of various club activities might lead you to think it is only a platform where can enrigh the student life in CEIBS. However, that’s not true. Among the many clubs, academic clubs focusing on different disciplines provide club members with academic environment and swamp them with academic atmosphere.
By far, the most eye-catching clubs are the marketing club and CFA/Investment club. The marketing club invited the respected guest speaker from L′ORÉAL on the topic of “The L′ORÉAL strategic core elements and the career planning in multinational corporations”; after that, the marketing club invited alumni to share experience with students; in addition, the club invited JWT professionals to give presentations on branding and advertising. While for CFA/Investment club, it organized a lot of events closely related with market and business hotspot ? “CFA exam workshop”, “How to invest in Hong Kong stock market”, “investment on financial derivatives”…
All these remarkable events successfully attracted students’ attention.
If CEIBS faculty quality and world ranking attract candidates world widely every year, then the events organized by clubs undoubtedly bring along added value during the study in CEIBS. Clubs, managed by student committee, on which CEIBS students can not only privileged with colorful campus life, opportunities to exhibit their talents; but also enjoy a wider social network, opportunities to share experience and knowledge, as well as boost their leadership and management skills, extend the learning experience in CEIBS beyond classroom.
