Congratulations to BGRC & innovateCHINA!

June 27, 2008. Shanghai Campus - CEIBS MBA Office hosted a congratulations ceremony today on the Shanghai main campus to celebrate the highly successful operating of two important events: the 3rd Annual Being Globally Responsible Conference (BGRC) and the first-ever innovateChina international business school competition.

"These projects were a cumulative effort and we want to thank everyone involved," declared CEIBS MBA Academic Director Lydia Price, as she opened the celebration. "This is the nicest part of my job; it is a pleasure and an honor to say thank you to those who made these projects a reality." She congratulated the current MBA class for often acting as "ambassadors for the school" in taking on socially responsible causes and projects.

Specifically, she thanked the organizers of the BGRC for accomplishing a “big move forward” in organizing this two-day event, which remains Asia’s first CSR conference organized by and for MBA students. She also applauded the organizers of innovateCHINA, CEIBS’ first international business school competition, for serving as "an amazing example of MBA energy and ability." The organizing team took the concept from a vague concept back in January to a highly successful event attracting 82 international schools by June.

CEIBS President Zhu Xiaoming expressed similar appreciation and pride to the students. “For the past year, I have been very impressed by our MBA students’ energy, creativity and capability through various activities on campus,” he said, calling the 3rd Annual BGRC and first innovateChina events “milestones” in CEIBS’ history.

President Zhu also thanked the representatives of the event sponsors and judge panelists including Dr. Stephan Binder, Director for McKinsey & Company; Mr. Andrew Greives, Environmental Advisor to Atlas Copco, and Mr. Sun Wei, GM of EVOC, inviting them to continue cooperating with CEIBS to "make history."

McKinsey & Company’s Dr. Stephan Binder next told the MBA class that he is “very impressed” with the launching of innovateCHINA, for which McKinsey & Company assisted in the judging panel. He commented that McKinsey’s famous research estimating that China will lack 70,000 managers during the next decade bodes well for the career prospects of CEIBS students. “Your skills are right on the money; you should all have brilliant careers and I hope some of you will join us,” he said.

The event ended amid spirited cheering, applause and calls of “Bravo!” as the following “heros” of the BGRC and innovateCHINA events were called forward to receive awards:
