A trip to Yiwu

From 16 to 17, Dec, 2007, 18 MBA07 students from CEIBS have 2 days’s business trip to YiWu in Zhe Jiang province.

YiWu locates in the south-middle part of Zhe Jiang province. In the north, it connect with Hang Zhou and in the south, it connect with WenZhou . The geographic location and long history of business tradition give YiWu unique advantage.

Dec, 16 afternoon, after arrived in YiWu, students first visited the restaurant which famous for the culture of “Using chicken feature to exchange sugar”. Start from “Using chicken feature to exchange sugar”, laborious YiWu people have made YiWu became the world largest commodity city.

In the morning of Dec, 17, students visited the famous private owned enterprise--- “Lang Sha Group”. In the workshop, students learned the production process from workers. After visited the company’s exhibition room, students have deeper understanding on Chinese private owned listed company.
 
 
Dec, 17 afternoon , students visited “ China Commodity City” . China Commodity City was built in 1982 and was one of the earliest professional markets . In the past 20 years , YiWu Commodity city has been relocated for 4 times and expanded for 8 times . Now , YiWu commodity city has became a city with 2.6 millions square meters , 50 thousands business shops and 200 thousands employees .There are more than 200 thousands peoples visited city everyday .In 2005 , the total revenue of trade reach 28.8 billions RMB , 60% are exports . YiWu commodity city has been the NO.1 industry commodity wholesales market for 15 years and was awarded a market title ---“ High quality and integrity “. Yi Wu commodity city is the center of trade , R&D and exhibition , also it was the largest commodity export base in China .

Yi Wu commodity city includes Yi Wu International trade city , Huang Yuan Market and Bing Wang Market . 43 industries , 1900 categories and 400 thousands commodities almost cover craftwork , accouterment, ironware, general merchandise ,rain gear, electronic merchandise, toys, cosmetic, sports , socks , food , clock , silk, textile, ties ,cloths and nearly all the other daily consumed commodities .For accouterment, socks and toys , 1 third of these commodities come from Yi Wu commodity city . Yi Wu commodity’s high performance price rate and high coverage rate make it a outstanding market in the world .

Rhan ,who is the CEIBS MBA06 from Korea said : “ it is hard to imagine that china has such a huge market !” . Raja, who is the CEIBS MBA07 from India said he will share his experience with his family business and he wish to come to Yi Wu again in future.

After finished this wonderful business visiting , students back to campus in Jan, 17 night safely. This activity was organized by CEIBS MBA Delta Force Club and got great support from MBA Office .
