A Close Look at a Successful People
Mentee: Warrior Bai
Mentor: Dong Tang, Chairman of Board, Step Servo Shenzhen Ltd.
If there is a question like "what a mentor means to you?" The answer would be totally varying from our MBA students. "Net working, internships, potential business opportunities, the experience sharing of those successful business leaders etc." My mentor Tang Dong impressed me a lot about how a successful business leader should act with his endeavor, vision and social responsilities.
I could tell his responsibilities toward this program by the selection of his 3 mentees. I am a guy with HR background, and the other two that he selected, one is a finance background former auditor and the other one is a QC manager. At the first time when I saw this composition of my group under his lead, I assume that he would like to form a team with main functions in a company to solve some current or potential problems that a company is facing. And in our first time discussion with Mr. Tang, my assumption turned out to be correct. Moreover, Mr. Tang's plan and anticipation of this team is beyond my assumption. Not only he would like to provide us chance to solve the problems that his companies is facing, but also he would like to apply his social net work to source more chance in his friend's or clients' companies for us to practice and solve the problems.
Besides providing the potential chances for us in the coming terms to practice, he also shares his experience and personal values towards different social phenomenon with us. In our discussions, we have exchanged our views on social welfare system, private property protection and the respect and protection of innovation. During the discussion, we reached mutually agreements on a lot of topic that we have concern for a long time.
Though we did not have a lot chances to meet and discuss in the last term, I thought all of our 3 mentees learned a lot from Mr. Tang about his vision, social responsibilities and values. Meanwhile, I should give my sincere thanks to Mentor Program which really build up an interaction between our MBA students and business leaders and provide both of us a "win-win" chance to learn and benefit from each other.
