With CEIBS MBA program ranked 11th by Financial Times for consecutive two years,CEIBS attracted by many top calibers students who have both solid academic and professional backgrounds. At an average age of 29, applicants are graduates of outstanding international universities such as the UK’s Cambridge and Oxford; the US’s Yale, Princeton, MIT, Cornell, Columbia, Stanford and the University of Pennsylvania; and Canada’s University of British Columbia, McGill University and the University of Waterloo. Others are alumni of top-flight local institutions such as: Tsinghua, Peking University, Fudan, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, and Nanjing University; plus Singapore’s NUS and NTU.

Their professional backgrounds include employment at well-established firms such as: Accenture, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Alstom, Lehman Brothers, BCG, CICC, UBS, Deutsche Bank AG, Merrill Lynch International, Swiss Credit, PWC, E&Y, KPMG, Deloitte, HSBC,ABN Amro Bank, HP, Microsoft Corporation, SAP, Siemens AG, Tata Group, Boeing, Emerson, Focus Media, LVMH, Maersk and China Mobile. Others are entrepreneurs, while some have worked with the General Administration of Customs, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, CEIBS, and the United Nations Development Programme. CEIBS Mentoring Programme  
     
 

The Mentoring Program is designed to assist CEIBS by helping MBA student to obtain more learning channels to get well prepared for them to enter into real business world after their graduation. Further more, with the EMBA students and Alumni's involvement, the program itself enhance a feeling of belonging to the CEIBS Community which is very important variable influencing retention and the persistence among the students and Alumni. The Mentoring Program therefore must provide effective platforms for mentor and mentee to interactive and communicate freely. 

An ideal population to begin mentoring with is first-year MBA students. First-year students confront more problems than the second year students. They might not know how to learn at a business school, they might not have a very clear career development picture; they might eager to expand their network. A mentor could be the one to provide guidance, encouragement, friendship, and support to the student during their study in CEIBS.

Thus, Mentoring provides mentor with an opportunity to affect MBA students at a much more personal level; to make a difference in students' lives and career; and to have a positive impact on students; let them feel very warm and pride "at home" at CEIBS.

We learned it from mentees that a lot of mentors are very active in Mentoring Programme since Oct. 22th, the kick off day, by sharing their own successful experience, by providing company visit opportunity and so on, which let all mentees feel it is a very high value added program for them. The Mentoring Programme of 2007 is still going on. All the above are just parts of the whole picture, where there are more enthusiastic EMBA "mentors" keep offering helps in various forms to the MBA participants: they either set a role model with their experiences or looked for opportunities through their broad social network for the MBA students to explore new fields and improve practical skills.
