Learning beyond classroom

There are some magic between my mentor and me. In the kick off day, after the ceremony, we sat together and talked with my mentor. “Amazing”, I cried out when I received his name card, “Our English name add together is just Christina, (my mentor’s English name is Chris), this is also my full English name.” He smiled.

We were the last batch leaving the lobby. He cared us a lot at the very beginning. We talked about the future career path, the previous working experience and even our dreams. Sometimes he talked mildly, sometimes he listened silently, but he always provided very brilliant comments and suggestions. Like good teacher and helpful friend, he solved my puzzles and made me feel relaxed. Just as an old Chinese saying, “A teacher is the one who transmits wisdom, imparts knowledge, and resolves doubts.

Later, the first busy term came. If you do not believe that the top B-school programs are tough, come to try CEIBs. We, all his mentees, did not match each schedule to visit Chris’s company until the beginning of the second term. Chris also invited our relatives, so one more MBA join us and we prepared to write a project report basing on Chris’s company. In order to make us learn more from this activity, Chris also invited supply chain direct of his company, Mr. Xu to introduce all the departments of the company and provide us deep and detailed information and analysis of the industry and the company. Chris introduced the total operation industry of the company and showed major products and solutions, which made us understand the outstanding R&D capability and the delicate customers services of the top companies. These vivid pictures impressed us how excellence a successful company is and let us further understand the importance of the cohesive management team, the efficient and effective products and processes and the continuously innovation spirit to the success of the company. All the mentees worked in services industry or government before and lacked of understanding of the production industry, this visit made it up.

After visiting the company, Chris also show us around LuJiaZhuang. We ate and talked very happily that night. I still remember Chris words, “Your dream in the childhood is to be a writer, my dream is to open a bookstore and my wife’s is to open a coffee bar. So in the future, maybe you write, I sell and the buyers will take the book to my wife’s bar and drink and taste there.” The words further shorten the distance between us. I still feel quite warm in heart when I reminded that night.

Chris said he will show us Wujiang next time, I am looking forward now…
