Practical Matters
Visa Information
To enter the People's Republic of China , you will need a students' visa, which is also known as an X visa (one-time entry), or visiting scholars' visa, which is also known as an F visa (multiple entry or single entry). Exchange students who came recently usually hold F visas.
Our Foreign Affair Office (FAO) will assist all incoming students with visa application. To apply for a students' visa, you will need a JW202 form (issued by the Education Committee of Shanghai Government) and an invitation letter issued by CEIBS.
It takes about 2 weeks to issue your JW202 form. If you have further questions, please consult Chinese Embassies or Consulates in your region.
Chinese Embassies and Consulates Worldwide
You're not allowed to work during the time you're studying at CEIBS. You have to leave China before the visa expires, or have it extended. However, CEIBS will only take care visa issues for you during the exchange period. We will only arrange for you to stay in China during the exchange term, with extension up to one month either before or after the exchange term.
