SHORT BIO:

Mike Thompson joined the faculty at CEIBS in 2010 as Professor of Management Practice and was previously Visiting Professor of Responsible Leadership. He has previously held visiting professorships at Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Graduate School of Business, Seoul National University and he speaks and writes on sustainable strategy, responsible leadership and corporate governance. Prof. Thompson is director of the Centre for Leadership and Responsibility at CEIBS which aims to create and disseminate knowledge on the practice and development of wise and responsible leadership especially in the corporate context.

Prof. Thompson’s scholarly work has been published in a variety of journals, business publications and book chapters and his recent publications include: Business, Spirituality and the Common Good (ed.), 2012, Wise Management in Organisational Complexity, (co-edited with D. Bevan Palgrave Macmillan, 2013) and “Reframing Business Ethics in the Management Education Curriculum” in The Asian Dimension of Teaching International Business Ethics, (Rothlin, S. and Haghirian, P. (eds.), Springer, 2013).

Prof. Thompson was formerly CEO of GoodBrand, an international sustainable enterprise consultancy providing services to major multinational clients. He has also served on the boards of a number of profit and not-for-profit companies including the UK’s largest independent toy retailer. Prof. Thompson has been active in the field of social enterprise, serving on the Board of Young Enterprise UK and, currently, as a director of The Hub Kings Cross, London, a serviced office and members network for social entrepreneurs.
