Professor Colgate's primary research areas are services marketing, financial services marketing and e-commerce. His teaching reflects his research expertise and he has taught many courses in marketing management, services marketing and financial services marketing at undergraduate, postgraduate and executive levels. He has taught in the UK, Ireland, China, New Zealand and Canada. In 1999, Professor Colgate received the Teaching Excellence Award at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. This distinguished honour is the highest award that the University of Auckland gives to the most outstanding member of its teaching staff.
