Professor Wang is Newman Chair in Real Estate Finance and Chair Department of Real Estate at Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, City University of New York. He revised a degree programme (BBA in Real Estate) and created three new degree programmes (MBA in Real Estate, MS in Real Estate, and a Ph.D. programme in Real Estate within the Finance specialisation). He was an Honourary (chaired) Professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was also a Visiting Professorial of National University of Singapore and of Tsinghua University.

Professor Wang publishes both in real estate and finance journals, which include Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Urban Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, International Real Estate Review, Journal of Business, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Review of Financial Studies. He also co-authored a book on Real Estate Investment Trusts, co-edited a monograph on Real Estate Valuation Theory, and co-wrote 19 teaching cases and teaching notes on real estate and finance issues faced by firms in Asia. Professor Wang is the editor of Journal of Real Estate Research (since 1998), founding executive editor of International Real Estate Review (since 1997) and co-executive editor of the Journal of Housing Studies (since 2006). As the editor, he successfully placed JRER into the coverage of SSCI. He has served on editorial boards of 7 journals, was a keynote speaker at a conference, serves on the board of several organisations, received the achievement award from the International Real Estate Society. He is an invited member of the Real Estate Counseling Group of America and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He also provides consultancy services, offers executive training, and conducts research projects for firms and government bodies in the United States, Japan, China, and Hong Kong.
