Prof. Sam Park is currently British American Tobacco Chair Professor, Professor of Strategy, Director of the Center for Emerging Market Strategy at CEIBS. Prior to his move to China, he was Professor of Strategy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. He also taught and served on the faculty at the University of Texas-Dallas, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and City University of Hong Kong. At Rutgers Business School, he received several research and teaching awards and was one of the very few faculty who had early promotions to the associate and the full professor ranks. He teaches courses in business strategy and policy, international corporate strategy, and business strategy in emerging markets.
His research has been published in various journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Science, Organization Studies, Organizational Dynamics, Contemporary Journal of World Business, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, among others. His studies have been broadly cited in the areas of strategic alliances and joint ventures. His current projects focus on understanding the strategy and market competition for multinational corporations and local companies in China.
He has consulted and participated in corporate training for various global firms in the U.S. and China. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Management and Organization Review, and Harvard Business Review China . He was the founding president of the Association of Korean Management Scholars. He also serves as corporate strategy adviser for the Wity Group (Shanghai).
