  Comments From Participants

Many companies invest significant resources designing strategies in order to help them prepare for the future. However, these strategies either are shelved or produce less than desirable results. The key reason for these failures is these companies lacked strong organisational capabilities to execute the strategies. Although I had my own thoughts on strategy execution, it's only after participating in Professory Yeung's programme that I now have a systematic understanding of the topic. He deeply impressed me with the three parts of organisational capabilities: employee capabilities; employee mindset; employee governance. These ideas provided useful tools to help us raise the level of our organisational capabilties. This programme is excellent and practical.

Through a large number of case studies, Professor Yeung analysed the concept of organisational capabilities and provided useful tools and tactics to raise organisational capabilities. These tools will be useful in helping our organisation execute our stratagies and accomplish our objectives. CEIBS' programmes are innovative and the professors are top notch, living up to the strong reputation it has earned as one of the top business schools.

The programme is extremely helpful to me in that it covers such areas as how to design blueprints for promoting new organisational capability and how to select talents and develop employees' capability. By citing Acer as a corporate example, the programme illustrates the importance of organisational capability as the core to implement strategies. With its highly internationalised teaching method employed throughout the programme, I believe CEIBS is sure to grow into an important facilitator to push further development in more social areas in the future.

As far as I am concerned, programmes concerning organisational behaviour and human resource management usually provide only isolated solutions to problems in related fields. Professor Yeung, however, integrates abstract theories with concrete cases, and successfully combines issues regarding business strategy, organisational capability and enterprise culture, as well as staffing elements together in his lectures. With the broader horizon and deeper insight provided by his lectures, professional managers, as well as entrepreneurs, can avoid making vain efforts.

The programme of Building Organisational Capability for Strategic Implementation offered me a more in-depth understanding about the importance for a company to possess a strong organisational capability. With our industry's features and our goal, we believe now that the best solution for building up organisational capability in a fast changing environment is enhancing learning ability of a company and developing the company into a boundaryless organisation.

Yang Jie
General Manager
Shanghai Mainland Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.

In the changing business environment, my company suffers from the failure to execute the formulated strategies, and the management is puzzled by the significant imbalance between the invested resources and the expected achievements. Thanks to this programme, I finally see the light. The roots of the problems lie in that the company hasn't built up its organisational capacity to match the strategies, and that the employees have not been able to adapt to the changing environment in terms of their competencies, ways of thinking and development. The programme has provided me with not only analysis but also practical solutions to these problems.
