Introduction: Dr. Li Shan will share with us his expertise on private equity. His speech covers a variety of topics including its purpose and history, its current status in China, managing and operating PE, and San Shan Capital Partners' development strategy.

Biography: Dr. Li Shan is the founding principal of San Shan Capital Partners. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, M.A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, and B.E. in Management Information Systems from Tsinghua University. Dr. Li was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Bank of China International Holdings, Managing Director and head of China Investment Banking of Lehman Brothers Asia (Hong Kong), the Deputy Head of the Investment Bank Preparation Committee of China Development Bank. Also, he worked as an Executive Director of the Advisory Group at Goldman Sachs International (London), Executive Director of Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs (Asia), Executive Director of Economic Research Department of Goldman Sachs (Asia), and International Economist at the Goldman Sachs New York  Office. Prior to his tenure at Goldman Sachs, he was an Associate of Global Foreign Exchange Trading at Credit Suisse First Boston. Dr. Li's research has been published in first-class international journals. He was invited to comment about China's economics situation on both internantional and local media. He also published books such as “Current Chinese Economic Commentaries and Analysis” and “Capital Logic and Enterprise Rebuilding”. Dr. Li was also voted one of “China’s Top 10 Most Influential Financial Professionals”. He is also one of the founders of the real estate internet site “SouFun.com”.
