CEIBS’ David Gosset Knighted by France

CEIBS’ David Gosset Knighted by France

January 4, 2015. Paris – As 2014 drew to a close, Senior Research Associate and Deputy Director for European Relations at CEIBS David Gosset became Knight of the Legion of Honour (Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur). President of the French Republic François Hollande signed the decree on December 31, 2014. The National Order of the Legion of Honour, established by Napoléon Bonaparte in 1802, is France’s highest honour.

Through CEIBS’ Academia Sinica Europaea and the Euro-China Forum, Gosset – a French citizen – has been working for the deepening of the links between the two edges of Eurasia and a better understanding between China and the West.

“It’s a great honour for me to receive this award in the year which marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and China,” Gosset said. “I don’t look at this award as the end of a process but as a signal that the work has to continue. The Chinese renaissance is our world’s most significant factor of change. At CEIBS, we’re very lucky to be a part of it, and it is our duty to try our best to analyse it and explain it to the world. I wish to thank all those at CEIBS, in China and in Europe who made our work possible.”
