Aspiring to be the resource and knowledge hub for innovation in China
The focus of the CEIBS Centre on China Innovation is to understand how Chinese companies innovate, and in particular how they are moving from imitation to grassroots innovation with global application and how developed world multinationals are using China as an innovation base, both for the domestic market and markets worldwide. Related concerns are how multinational enterprises can deal with the intra-organisational issues of decentralised R&D, and manage intellectual property in joint ventures.
The Centre on China Innovation was founded in response to the CEIBS institutional strategy of “China Depth, Global Breadth” and is an inclusive platform for cross-disciplinary research and engagement in the area of innovation.
As an integral part of CEIBS, the Centre on China Innovation (CCI) invests in applied research and outreach programs to expand the frontiers of academic thought, influence business practice and provide innovative solutions to our corporate partners.
The Centre’s ambition is to become the leading resource and knowledge hub on the role of innovation in the development of business in China.
The Centre is initially funded by the generous support of Akzo Nobel, DSM, Philips, and Shell, all of them innovative leaders in global business.
Each sponsor contributes a number of managers on a rotating, part time basis to work on research projects with the Centre on China Innovation.
