About Us  
     
 

CEIBS Case Development Center was created in 2001 with a mission to become the world knowledge center for China-specific managerial issues. The Center is dedicated to developing teaching cases of international standard, in both English and Chinese, so as to serve management education and the business world.

CEIBS Case Development Center is a member institution of ECCH, the leading case distributor in the world. At present, more than 100 CEIBS cases are distributed worldwide through ECCH. In 2006, CEIBS became the first school from Chinese mainland to join ICCP, the International Community of Case Publishers.

The Center has initiated extensive cooperation with leading business schools in the world, including INSEAD, IMD, Darden and Wharton, in jointly developing China-focused cases. It also authorized IVEY Publishing and IESE Publishing to distribute CEIBS cases overseas.

Most recently in 2006, HBS Case Distribution Center at CEIBS was created to distribute HBSP products in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.

September 2007
The case research project "Chinese Enterprises in Europe" was launched. The project was coorganized by CEIBS and EM Lyon Business School. Four enterprises participated in the project, they are Shenzhen Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd., Beijing Four Dimensions-Johnson Security Co., Ltd., Lenvo Co., Ltd. and Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.

September 2007
Dr. Shengjun Liu, assistant director of CEIBS Case Development Center, attended 2007 China Financial Brand Forum organized by China Merchants Bank and delivered a keynote speech. Other speakers include Mr. Ma Weihua, governor of China Merchants Bank, Katherine Tsang, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank China, etc.

April 2007
China CEO: A Case Guide for Business Leaders in China, co-authored by Prof. Juan Antonio Fernandez and Dr. Shengjun Liu, was published by John Wiley & Sons. The book includes nine cases on different topics, from HR, to leadership, joint venture, headquarters-subsidiary relationship, IPR protection, consumer behavior, government relationship, expatriates life in China and foreign entrepreneurs in China. Each case is complemented with commentaries from professors and executives who have extensive front-line experience in China. Shengjun Liu is the Assistant Director of CEIBS Case Development Center.

December 2006
CEIBS Case Center's second case book, the Selected Cases of CEIBS, was published by China CITIC Press. The book includes 23 teaching cases in OBHR, strategy, marketing, general management and entrepreneurship. One unique feature of this book is the insightful commentaries made by CEIBS EMBA students.

November 2006   
The case "Pepsi's painful marriage in Sichuan" authored by Dr. Shengjun Liu was published in Asian Case Research Journal.

October 2006
Dr. Wang Jianmao, associate dean of CEIBS and director of CEIBS Case Development Center, attended the 2006 fall meeting of ICCP, the International Community of Case Publishers, in Paris.

August 2006 
CEIBS became the primary case contributor for Win in China program hosted by CCTV.

May 2006 
HBSP authorized CEIBS to establish HBS Case Distribution Center at CEIBS.

April 2006 
CEIBS was accepted as a new member of ICCP, the International Community of Case Publishers.

November 2005 
CEIBS case "Michelin China" won the golden medal of China HR Cases awarded by Asia-Pacific Human Resources Research Association.

November 2005 
CEIBS Case Development Center presented the 1st China Management Case Conference and made a keynote speech.

June 2005 
CEIBS reached an agreement with IESE Publishing in case distribution.

June 2005 
CEIBS reached an agreement with IVEY Publishing in case distribution.

April 2005 
CEIBS Case Development Center, CEIBS Center of Entrepreneurship and Wharton’s Snider Entrepreneurial Research Center reached an agreement to jointly develop entrepreneurship cases in China.

March 2005

CEIBS Cases  
     
 

CEIBS has developed approximately 200 China-focused cases, among which around 100 cases are distributed worldwide through ECCH. CEIBS cases cover most management issues ranging from strategy, to corporate governance, marketing, OBHR, political economy and business environment, production, entrepreneurship, etc. Many leading enterprises have contributed to CEIBS case development, such as BP, Michelin, Emerson, Sony, Philips, CNOOC, Wanxiang Group and Tsingtao Brewery.

Case writers usually conduct field interview to obtain first-hand information. Our cases offer best practices, explore various challenges and dilemmas and help executives to gain insights into managerial issues. CEIBS cases has received wide acknowledgement in the world. Michelin China case was adopted by Strategy: Winning in Marketplace (2nd edition) published by McGraw-Hill, and "Cosmetic Surgery in China : The Market for Laser Resurfacing"case was adopted by Service Marketing in China published by Prentice Hall. Dozens of leading business schools including INSEAD, IESE, Oxford, HKUST and Tsinghua are among our customer list. Some CEIBS cases have been published in CEIBS LINK, HBR China, Business Management Review, PKU Business Review, etc.
