The Chinese Auto Industry: Who Will be the Winners?

Industry restructuring, rapid growth, and decreasing market shares ? who will be the winners?

Over the past three years, China's automobile industry has witnessed a phenomenal growth, but now it appears to be moving towards a cycle of sluggish growth. Government forecasts show that over-capacity is fast becoming the norm of the industry, and it is expected that in 2007, there will be 100% excess capacity. On top of this, car makers in China are seeing stagnant sales, decreasing prices, and increasing competition. The fight for market share is becoming fiercer than ever.

As the leading business school in the Asia-Pacific, the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) will host CEIBS' third consecutive China Automotive Industry Forum. CEIBS will again serve as a bridge and platform for industry leaders, senior government officials and renowned academics to discuss strategies for operating in an increasingly challenging market. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Macroeconomic and automotive industry policies
  • Global harmonisation & its impact on China's automotive industry development
  • Current and evolving automotive industry structures
  • Understanding China's auto consumers and their needs
  • Future developments in China's automotive market
  • Developing trends in China's commercial vehicle sector
  • Movement towards a competitive auto component industry
  • China in the global automotive market
