Prof. Wu Jinglian is Bao Steel Chair Professor of Economics at CEIBS. He has been a Member of the Academic Council of CEIBS since the school was founded and a Faculty member at CEIBS since 1996. Prof. Wu is also Senior Research Associate at the Development Research Centre of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is a Professor of Economics at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In September 2005, Prof. Wu was elected as a member of current Executive Committee (2005-2008) of International Economic Association (IEA). He serves as an Independent Member of the Boards of several companies.
Professor Wu graduated from Fudan University majoring in Economics in 1954. He was a Visiting Fellow and Professor at Yale University, MIT and Stanford University in the USA and Oxford University, UK. His main research interests are theoretical economics, comparative institutional analysis, and theory and policy of the economic reform of China. He is the author of numerous books, including Reform: Now at a Critical Point in 2001 and Fifteen Critical Issues of the Reform of SOEs in 1999. His new book published recently is Understanding and Interpreting Chinese Economic Reform, Mason, Ohio: Thomson/South-Western.
